2014 Gala Review

February 11, 2014

I can hardly believe eight days have already passed since our 2nd annual 'Evening for Miracles Gala.' It' been a week of reliving or maybe I should say 'reviewing' the evenings events one detail at a time.  We've spent hours in conversation about it and made copious notes on changes, adjustments, and additions that we would like to see for next year. We've looked at all that was good and all that we can make better.

For those of you, our friends new and old who joined us last Saturday we want to THANK YOU with everything we've got for making the evening the stunning success that it was! We felt such enthusiasm from you all in what we presented and for all the new plans we are setting our sites on to achieve. You were attentive and positively responsive as well as ready to party and share the love. Our family and all who helped plan the event really felt a success in the evening.  For those of you who couldn't attend...WE MISSED YOU! We had a bigger turn out than our first gala last year and we will definitely be ramping up for next year. If you remember last weekend, we were in the middle of another snow storm on Saturday but in spite of the weather we had folks join us from Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Toronto, Ajax, Caledon and San Diego. Yes, I said San Diego! (and everyone was on time! See I told you it was an Evening for Miracles!!!)

We would like to send out special thanks to our Ward 9 counselors and friends, Valerie Wood and all the friends from Emergency Rescue Training and the Westmount Gallery, the most talented hair and make up artists in the city (if not the country...no foolin') from the top salons in Yorkville, associates of ours from the Sign industry and even some childhood friends.

We immensely enjoyed the musical performances of the charismatic Michael Ciufo (settle down girls!), the insanely entertaining performance of the jazz classic "Orange Colored Sky" by Breanne Arrigo, and the duet of "The Prayer" by Ciufo and Arrigo (you could feel hearts melting all over the room.) We laughed our dinners down with the stand up comedy of Jim McAleese from Second City and the Mike Bullard show and we danced to salsa, Michael Jackson, the Bee Gees, and all the hits we love movin' to the most!

We had 35 Live and silent auction items. Joffrey Lupul, Tyler Bozak, Nikolai Kulemin shed their jerseys, hockey sticks and pucks for us but not until they were autographed of course. We had autographed Blue Jays baseball bats, and some incredible full size posters from the UFC autographed by all Belt holders. There were two Defibulators valued at $1,795. each that were snapped up for $900. each. We had original art from gallery showing artists and several Date night and Spa packages. WOW! Oh yes, I almost forgot, there was a hot bidding war for a pair of Raptor tickets.

Next year let's make it a date OK? It would be such an honor and a pleasure for us to be able to host a fun and memorable night for a you, and your favourite friends.

One last thing to mention...don't forget to come back to this site on Saturday as it will be all new and we think you will enjoy it!
